These sedentary species are able to find sufficient food throughout the year and therefore do not need to migrate.

Permanent residents of the Camargue include a number of species of heron, passerines and birds of prey.

Whilst the Park plays host to flamingos all year, the flocks are not strictly sedentary; they are, in fact, made up of erratic or nomadic birds, which travel around wetlands of the Mediterranean basin.
